bride and groom

In Asia the crane or tsuru symbolizes good fortune, longevity, happiness and peace. Since the 1960′s, it has been a tradition to handfold 1001 cranes for display at local weddings.

The Japanese have called this tsuru wa sennen or “the crane lives for 1000 years.” Thousands of original designs and artwork have been created, but you will find nothing like these unique displays of tsurus in beautiful corian and wood showcases.

centerpieces

Centerpiecescandle centerpieceZen gardens have been in existence for centuries since the arrival of Zen Buddhism. This type of zen garden is called karesansui or “dry mountain and water garden”. The rocks represent mountains, while the sand represents water, giving the imagery of a tranquil setting of nature. This is a miniature recreation of the magnificent gardens found in Japan.

In Japan as well as Hawaii, fire is believed to represent life, passion and vitality. Candles provide a means to harness these flames to serve a specific purpose… to ensure a successful marriage.

Coasters are practical household items that preserve tables and furniture from the staining effects of water and other liquids. Japanese and local themed designs make this both practical and stylish for the home.

Japanese platform shoes, or geta, have been used by women as a means to keep an expensive kimono from being ruined by dirt or mud. It consists of a single piece of wood with two blocks of wood beneath used as platforms.

Furoshike is a type of Japanese wrapping cloth used to transport small goods, belongings, or gifts. The technique is similar to origami folding.

Both the coasters and the geta are made of Corian and are perfect for wedding favors. Our furoshiki is hand wrapped and can be styled with the material of your choice.

Taiko drums have been used for over a thousand years as means of communication across the battlefields during times of war. The modern musical aspect most people associate with the taiko drum, wasn’t established until the 1950′s.

Since then, it has become a phenomenal instrument that has given rise to countless drumming groups that have become famous world-wide. The drum shown here is used for holding monetary envelopes for the newly weds.

Stone water basins can be found all over Japan. It originated in Japanese shrines or temples for worshippers to wash their hands and mouth as a symbol of purification. It was also designed to humble guests and create the right state of mind in the Japanese tea garden before entering the tea house.

The fountain card box that DSM has created is the replica of a coin-shaped water basin called “Zenigata Tsukubai.” It is used for holding monetary envelopes for the bride and groom. The envelopes can be dropped in the square hole and taken out from a hidden back door. It makes a beautiful piece of art work to add to the decor of your home.
